Kensington – Colonel Mustard and the Candlestick. (2004)

Kensington - Colonel Mustard & the Candlestickalbum cover

“As Kensington hit the Parisian gigging circuit in 2003-4, their sound evolved form elecrto-pop (as on their first album London) to a more brit pop rock sound. Kensington were now a 4 piece outfit (the duo Dom Hutton and Olivier deVellis were joined by bassist Zizou Sadki and Pierre Caillot on drums. (Later on replaced by Tristan Perrron on bass and Wiwai). They were starting to get a little airplay on Oui FM and some of their songs found their way to different compilation cd’s in France and in the UK. In 2004 Kensington signed a distribution deal with Mosiac Music Distribution and made a few appearances on French TV. The band shot a video to the song “London” and it got broadcast on MCM.
“Colonel Mustard and the Candlestick” was to be however their last album, and the band played their last gig in the autumn of 2005 at the Grand Rex (support to AHA)”

Kensington – London (2003)

Kensington - London Album Cover“Initially a duo based project, Dom Hutton and Olivier Devellis formed Kensington in 2003. LONDON was their first opus, entirely written and recorded in Dom’s home studio in Montmartre, Paris. A colourful collectiion of songs blending a mixture of electro-pop textures inspired superficially by the parisian electro scene. But in a deeper sense LONDON was a throwback to a forgotten, almost imaginary, England. An England of Ford Cortinas, bright red telephone boxes and the smell of cut grass on a sunny day in spring.”
